Thank you Felicia. It is wonderful to discover Ipohworld. I have photos of our time there – when I was 3 to 9 years old – including the swimming pool. I have just been looking at a school photo where I am sitting in-between the twins Jacque and Jill Foo. We were at the Brirish Army Chldren’s School, though my Dad was not in the army. He was in the public service. A very good friend blisters in mouth of his was Bok who was at Mercedes in Ipoh.
Oh I had a pet monkey while there. And when we left in 1960 she went to a priest running an old people’s home. He had a small zoo for the residents I think. Would anyone of such a place back then? I have a proposal from a dear friend who wants to illustrate a picture book which I will write with the monkey as the main character. We are trying to decide whether to make her realistic or stylized. blisters in mouth The photos I have of Matty are not very clear, but she was only tiny and not quite like any other monkey pictures I can find. Her head was very small and she would sometimes store her food in her cheeks, which looked very comical.
